Government officials now believe about 21.5 million people, both federal government and non-government employees, have been hacked. The staggering new number was released Thursday by the U.S. Office of Personal Management. People's social security numbers, fingerprints, and other sensitive information has been stolen, taken from background application checks from the year 2000 on. "Unfortunately, this is the first phase of what's going to be a much larger campaign," said local cyber security expert John Moynihan.
